Mother's Day for Your Wife (who is NOT your mother)

I am writing this article for several reasons. First, to all my married brethren as a reminder to do something kind and thoughtful for the mother of your children on Mother's Day. This year, by the way, Mother's Day falls on Sunday, May 8th. Write yourself a reminder now and check this first point off of your list. This is pretty easy so far, right (Ladies, if you come across this article, would you kindly place it or post it where some men who are in need of it's message will find it?) Second, there seems to be a thought among some men that this is one holiday we can take a breather from. After all, your wife (who does most of the gift shopping and giving) has YOUR mom covered on your behalf. This lets you off the hook, right…

Happy Anniversary to Us and Why it Should Matter to You Too!

Today is our anniversary. We have been married for thirty-one-derful years (that's 31). Why should you care? And why is this worthy of a blog post? We are so glad you've asked. According to our family statistics, Tami and I should NOT still be married. Between Tami's family and mine, there have been 13 divorces. THIRTEEN! In fact, Tami and I are the ONLY ones still enjoying their first marriage on either side of our families. Both sets of our parents have been divorced and every one of our siblings has as well. Some of them have been divorced more than once. This is not a judgement on our family members…

All married couples will have issues to work through at one time or another. Every single one. If you are newly married this may not make sense to you yet, but rest assured that eventual marriage issues are as certain as death and taxes! Not to worry though, having issues is not a problem and is actually quite normal. How and when you deal with those issues is where the problems can come in. For this post, we will focus on the how.
