Can Valentines Day Be More Than Candy Hearts?

We have all heard people grumble about Valentines Day as, "Just another opportunity for Hallmark to take your money." Please allow us to challenge you in your thinking because Valentines Day is an opportunity for you to do something meaningful for your spouse. Further, when you're married, you never want to miss a chance to do something meaningful! Anyone who has been married for more than a year or two knows very well what it looks like when the honeymoon becomes a distant memory and life (with all of it's challenges) kicks in. How Going to a Wedding Can Strengthen Your Marriage

Tami and I have been to several weddings in the last few weeks. This has us thinking a lot about how each of us is impacted by attending a wedding. There are generally two ways that people think about a wedding they have been invited to. First, some people have a hard time getting "into it" because they have so much on their plates. They see this wedding, and all of the details surround it (buying gifts, wrapping gifts, attending bachelor/bachelorette parties, getting your suit/dress cleaned, etc.) as overwhelming. And they have a right to since most people simply have too many demands placed on them already…

You Can Foster Ongoing Passion in Marriage!

We recently took a trip to Chelan, Washington with some friends. While there, we attended a special dinner event at Siren Song Wines. The event featured some great Spanish-influenced wines as well as some amazing food including Spanish Paella. As if great food and wine were not enough, we enjoyed some authentic Flamenco dancing while at the event too. The dancing was really incredible! It was a really fun date night. While having dinner, the four of us sat directly in front of a fireplace that had a profoundly interesting piece of art hanging above it. As two happily married couples that have seen our share of unhappy marriages over the years…

Wives: You Probably Think Your Husband Will Always Be Your Best Friend

Tami and I recently taught a marriage seminar on the false assumptions that we all bring into our marriages. We went on to point out that if we could clear away some of these false assumptions about marriage, it would likely pave the way for better marriages or possibly even truly great marriages. Wives, you should not assume that your husband will always be your best friend by virtue of the fact that you are his wife. There, we have said it out loud.
